Sunday's Game - 5/16
by posted 05/14/2021

Hi Team -

We are looking forward to our game this Sunday.  This is an AWAY game against Framingham at 12pm on Framingham High School’s turf (115 A Street, Framingham).  The turf is located behind the school on the hill.  Please have your player arrive at 11:30am for warm-ups and pre-game prep.

Also, we are down a few players for this game and currently only have one substitute.  So, please make sure you arrive on time for this game because we desperately need your player!

Finally, please read the email below from the Framingham coach about COVID protocols.

See you Sunday. Go BLACK!

——————
COVID protocols in Framingham: Mask Wearing is mandatory for players, coaches and spectators (inside fencing).  Please make sure your parents are aware.

A note from MBYLL, FGLL and FYL:

MBYLL/FGLL is aware of, and excited by, Governor Baker's announcement yesterday regarding state re-opening, mask wearing requirements, and other covid related restrictions.

Please know, as of right now, MASKS ARE STILL REQUIRED for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at youth sporting events this weekend.

MBYLL/FGLL’s  mask mandate has always been based off the State's standards and guide for youth sports re-opening from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA). As of today, the office has NOT released any updated standards or guidelines.

While we expect to see an updated guide following the Governor's announcement, there is no guarantee as to when it will come out and how they will apply the new mask rules to youth sports.

The mask mandate at MBYLL/FGLL/FYL games will remain in effect until if/when they release new guidance related to wearing masks at youth sporting events, followed by an official announcement from the MBYLL, FGLL, or FYL Board of Directors.

We thank you in advance for your compliance and full cooperation.

Just a quick email to let you know that Weston High School's girls varsity team has a home game today at Proctor Field at 4pm.  If your daughter is interested in watching some really good lacrosse, bring her by!  It should be a great game -- and we'll get to cheer on our high school coaches, Ava and Haven, who will be playing in it!

Hope to see you there,

Welcome to U13 Team Black!
by posted 03/30/2021

Dear Weston U13 Team Black -

Welcome to the 2021 Season! We are excited and grateful to have the opportunity to get on the field and play lacrosse with your daughters this spring. We have a great roster of girls and are excited to get to know them all!

Your coaches are Kate Dickie (Kearney’s mom), Drew Thompson (Reeves’ dad), Sam Bartfield (Sky’s mom), Alan Gardner (Cecily’s dad) and Vance Garry (Izzy’s dad). We also have 2 WHS student coaches joining us as well, Ava Dreyer and Haven Trodden.  As coaches, we will stress hard work, positive attitudes, team mentalities, and a willingness to learn.  But, more than anything, we're focused on instilling a love for the sport in our players and making our team experience an awesome one.  All players will play every position and all players will be counted on to show up for games and practices.  We do not have a set goalie, so all players will be asked to play goalie for one half of a game at some point in the season.

Practices: Our season starts on April 5th and our practice days will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15 PM-7:30 PM. We will practice at the WHS Fields on TURF Field 1. No practices will be held on Memorial Day or during April break. Please arrive and depart on time so no one is waiting out in the cold at the end of practice!

Games: Our games start on April 11th and our game schedule is posted to our team page on the WYL website. You will received an email by Thursday of each week to confirm game attendance — this will be sent through the automated RSVP feature on the WYL website. If you are not able to attend a game, please let us know by Thursday. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to game time to warm up. This year, no halftime snacks or food may be consumed on the field but please bring a water bottle.

Equipment:  All players need a girls lacrosse stick, mouth guard, girls lacrosse goggles, a mask, sneakers or turf cleats and athletic clothing for each practice. For games, please bring all of the aforementioned equipment and your child's game uniform. Girls should have their hair tied back if possible. Please also make sure your player dresses in layers for warmth — it often gets very cold by the end of practice. Also make sure all players bring hand sanitizer and a water bottle to the field.

Given the loss of the 2020 season, we feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to play this season. WYL will be very strict about following the COVID 19 protocols set by both our league and Weston. All players, coaches and parents are required to wear masks at all times on the field and on the sidelines.  We ask that everyone observes social distancing to the very best of their ability. If a player or parent has had exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVD 19, this player cannot attend any team events until they have received a negative PCR test on Day 5 and have been cleared by their school to return to school activities. We ask that all players monitor their health closely and please do not attend any team events if they are experiencing COVID 19 symptoms.  Let's do our part to keep our teams on the field this Spring! Please review the COVID guidelines sent out for the season overview, or reach out with any questions.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We cannot wait to see all of you on April 5th!

Go Team Black!

Best,
Kate, Drew, Sam, Alan, and Vance
